What is AEO? Answer engine optimisation explained
Answer engine optimisation is the practice of shaping content so a search or answer engine can lift a direct answer from it, rather than merely listing it as a link. As engines increasingly answer questions on the spot, being the source of that answer is a distinct kind of visibility.

From ten blue links to a direct answer
Search has been shifting from a list of links toward direct answers — featured snippets, knowledge panels, and now AI-generated summaries. AEO is optimising for that shift: making your content the thing the engine quotes or draws from when it answers.
This changes the target. Classic SEO aims for a ranking position; AEO aims to be the extracted answer, which may or may not come with a prominent link. The skill is writing content an engine can confidently lift a clean, correct answer from.
What makes content answerable
Answerable content states things plainly and early. A clear question as a heading, followed by a direct, self-contained answer in the first sentence or two, gives an engine something clean to extract. Burying the answer in the middle of a long paragraph makes it harder to pull.
Structure helps an engine parse meaning: concise definitions, ordered steps for processes, and tables for comparisons all map neatly to the formats answer engines favour. Accuracy matters more than ever, because a wrong extracted answer is your name on a mistake.
Trust and specificity
Engines prefer to answer from sources they trust, so the same authority signals that help SEO — expertise, citations, a solid reputation — help you become the chosen answer. Vague, generic content rarely gets selected when a more precise source exists.
Specificity wins. A page that answers a narrow question exactly, with concrete detail, tends to be extracted over a broad page that mentions the topic in passing. AEO rewards being unambiguously the best answer to a defined question.
How Kirti approaches this
Kirti is being built to plan content that is answerable by design — leading with the direct answer, structuring it for extraction, and keeping it accurate — as part of the same loop that handles a brand’s SEO, then measuring whether the brand shows up as the answer.
The agent is in active development and not yet generally available; the approach here helps whatever tools you use to write and publish.
